It doesn’t display anything at room temp, about 76 Feg F. It is advertised with a range of 32 to 572 degrees. I couldn’t find anything on their website. Finally I tried sticking it in my oven and set it for 180 Deg F. It finally started showing the ambient temp when it was around 120 degrees. Then, while letting it cool the ambient temp went blank again below 120 degrees. It was frustrating to have to discover this myself. Chef IQ should have this stated, instead of saying it’s good 32 – 572 degreed. 120 is fine, I won”t be cooking below that, it just would have been nice to know.

This is a really nicely polished product. I make perfect meat now. It’s easy to use and the directions are idiot proof. Have only two complains. First, right after reading the warning about it being hot when done, I burned my fingers. Would be nice if there was a visual indicator of hotness on the probe but maybe they can’t put an LED given the heat it endures. Second, after it tells you to flip the meat it asks you to confirm that you’ve flipped it. Again, would be nice if it detected that on its own. Bigger issue is that it won’t continue until you’ve clicked that button to confirm. On my phone, I cannot click the button. It does nothing. I have a pixel 5. But, the timer keeps running in spite of it so I don’t know if it matters in practice. But, like, a button in the app should work.

Worked on first try exactly as designed. I am not a fan of app-based products, usually because of connectivity issues, but this product and the Chef IQ app worked very well together. I wanted to see if it would actually handle higher heat (above 500F) and it did quite nicely. I service rotating rack ovens and conveyor ovens and conveyor dishwashers as part of my job. I will now include this as a tool that I can rely on to confirm operation or identify problems. I can also use it at home to cook (almost like I know what I’m doing!). This is a good purchase!

So many options , wifi connection using base or direct prob Bluetooth connection, base also have a speaker which notify you about status of food, app is little complicated but has a lot of useful information, I cooked with it 5 times and tested temp using 3 different thermometers and it seems on point, 1 thing I’m missing is calibration which can be very useful after using it for a while.5 star product!

I was a little skeptical about using the Chef IQ meat thermometer, not because of the product itself but because of never using that type of device before. I have to say that it exceeded my expectations and performed flawlessly. I have been trying to get a second probe but everywhere is sold out. Great product!

Save yourself some time, money, and headache and go ahead and order this. I was a loyal and very vocal Meater user for years, and this thermometer solved ALL my complaints about Meater up to and very much including COST. I had the wifi meater block x2 and since they only offered bluetooth, you could never be far away from the grill or smoker I bought them for. For THAT luxury be prepared to pony up a good part of $400 for the Meater solution. I took a chance on the ChefIQ and I’m so very glad I did. For a fraction of the price I got a product that was far more polished than I expected for the price and I dare say “better” than Meater’s offering. Meater is definitely a case of buying the brand instead of buying the quality, which ChefIQ wins handily. Please don’t throw your money away on a more expensive product for absolutely no reason! Trust me, your friends don’t care as long as the food is good!

It is very difficult to use this as a simple thermometer. You have to answer a list of questions about what your cooking, what temp you want the meat cooked at, what device are you cooking meat with i.e. oven or grill. Sometimes I have all this in my head and just want the temperature without playing 40 questions. I also made the mistake of putting the thermometer in the meat before pairing it with the app and the thing just about had a heart attack. It may be that it zeros itself when you start the app and I already had it on the heat but whatever it was it definitely didn’t like it. Part of my issue may be still learning to use it but there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to use it as a simple thermometer in the app without 40 questions. I’ve had this device for a few months now and have used it at least a dozen times including for my thanks Givin turkey and I would say it is OK at best not sure if it was worth the money at this time. A high-end meat thermometer may have been a better choice for me unfortunately.

Let me start by saying that I have NEVER had a โconnected thermometer probeโ (the kind with lines that stick into the sensor) that worked for more than a a few weeks – and this includes the kind that come with expensive air fryers/infrared ovens. The kinds that have connection lines cannot handle the heat. I have bought some really nice ones that seemed to be very well-made, but they never keep working. One had four different probes and EVERY ONE of the probes stopped working! This remote probe solve the problem since there are no connection lines! The part that sticks out from the meat is made of ceramic and accurately transmits the ambient temperature of the oven, air fryer, grill or smoker. The part that goes into the meat also sends very accurate temperature readings to the transmitter, which sends all the information to your phone. There are lots of different cooking settings on the phone app, but I only set it to let me know when the temperature I want the meat to be is met. I bought an extra probe and have tested the temperature sent by both probes put into a turkey breast on each side. The meat temperature was within one degree! The fact that the probes do not have lines makes things a LOT easier also since you donโt have to run the lines outside of the oven, grill, etc. My kitchen is upstairs and I have no trouble reading temperatures when I am in my basement – connection to my phone has not been an issue at all. I highly recommend this EXCELLENT meat thermometer!
