I bought this and the corn silk brush. The two items save me so much time.I like to make a version of Mexican street corn. After roasting the corn on the grill, I used to use a knife to strip off the kernels. It was messy and tricky to get right. I saw this, and thought ‘I must have this’.Between the silk brush and this, I probably save at least 30 – 40 minutes, and do not have nearly the mess. When you use a knife, the kernels fly everywhere. Not with this!I was a little skeptical of how it would handle different sized cobs, but only mayhe the pointy end of a smaller cob does not get stripped efficiently. Also, note that the product has been updated since the photos. The photos show a metal serrated blade. The one I just received is plastic. I have to think the plastic will be more durable, and is less likey to cut you if you are being careless with it. So overall, I think the product has probably improved.I’ve been making a version of Mexican street corn. Husk it, and get off all the silk you can. Easiest way by far to husk is to cut off the ends with a knife. The husk comes right off. Use the silk brush under running water to scrub off the silk. Roast it directly on a grill, keep it moving. If you hear it making sounds like popcorn, you are not moving it enough. Once you see some char, it’s about ready. Let it cool enough to touch. Strip the kernels off and put them in a pot. A couple of tablespoons of mayo, a lot of kosher salt, some pepper, and a generous splash of lime juice. Apply low heat. Stir it all together. Add grated cotija cheese. Keep tasting and adding salt and lime, maybe a bit more mayo and cheese. Add some seasoning – Tajin is great for this. Add some fresh basil and provide jalapeΓ±o for those who like heat. My family loves this recipe. I added a twist last time by placing some pickled onions on the side. I used Bobby Flay’s recipe (red wine vinegar, grenadine, salt, sugar, and water) and sliced a Vidalia onion thin.

This cuts right at the cob base. Hard to use when corn is on the cob and hot but it works great. I would buy it again.

Works best of larger ears of corn and is very easy to use. Doesn’t shoot corn everywhere like using a knife and there is less waste.

Strips cob easily. A bit messy, but using a deep bowl solves most of that problem. Best thingβ¦doesnβt take a lot of drawer space.

This has been such a time saver and a kernel saver! I used to cut the corn off the cob with a knife and would have kernels everywhere due to limited mobility in my left hand. With this, Iβm able to easily get the corn off the cob and into the bowl with no casualties. Haha. My family is OBSESSED with my homemade corn chowder & now I donβt dread making it for them.

Great item, but look out, corn kernels go flying around the kitchen. But when I cook too many ears, I strip them and freeze the remainder. Summer goodness.
