I thought about a zester…but, I’d just used my cheese grater and it kind of sucked. On a whim, I bought this and IT SERIOUSLY CHANGED MY LIFE! I only buy parmesan in a block, (lasts way longer) and finely shredding it with this thing is PERFECT! Then, I zested garlic, limes and lemons: what a game changer. The really outstanding thing is FRESH GINGER: you can freeze it in a ziplock whole, fresh and then pull it from the freezer, peel off the outside (only if you want) and return it to the freezer, FOREVER!!! I’ve been working on the same ginger root for so long. I just bought 5 more for Christmas presents for everyone. How did I live without this thing? (Haven’t tried shaving chocolate nor nutmeg but, I KNOW IT WILL BE AWESOME!!! Oh, and cleaning it, is cake, just don’t use a scrub brush against the blades. You will have shaved scrub brush blades in your sink.)

Lives up to the fantastic reviews. I was so pleased with mine (space saving, efficient, cleans beautifully, easier than dragging out my food processor shredder) that I bought three as gifts. I use mine several times a week. Handy helpful little tool. I’m not as fond of box graters but be aware this does produce a fine shred.

This handle is very nice and easy to use, but since this is so long, it is less practical to grate over an item versus grating onto a plate. It has a rubber end at the top which means it won’t scratch any surface you lean it against. I love it.

I grate a lot of ginger, garlic and citrus (I’m a whole foods-plant-based cook) and I cannot believe I didn’t get one of these sooner.
