This IS a better mousetrap!I’m impressed by this can opener’s unique design and ease of use. Simply set the opener on top of the can, pull it towards the center of the can so it firmly engages the edge of the can, and press the button. The opener then does everything by itself, except emptying the contents of the can. It’s perfect for people with arthritis or other conditions who can’t use a manual can opener. And it’s a better design than the conventional tall vertical electric can opener that can tip over and spill the contents if you don’t hold onto it.There is no need to hold the can, as the weight of the opener is centered on the lid. That makes the height of the can irrelevant. Press the button and the opener starts moving counter-clockwise (a bit louder and slower than I expected) and goes all the way around the can until it stops, reverses direction and then shuts off.I lifted the opener up, but the magnet didn’t hold onto the lid. So I used my fingers to easily remove the lid. I was surprised that the top of the lid was not cut, like it was with my old reliable hand-operated can opener. Instead, the underside of the lid was cut, leaving no sharp edges on the lid or the can, unlike my hand-operated can opener that left a very sharp edge on the lid. This opener does not cut the side of the can, unlike some similar openers. Enlarge my photo.I’ve used this opener twice, with no problems. The first time was on a can of diced tomatoes, and the magnet held on to the lid. Not always holding the lid is a minor inconvenience, not worthy of a rating reduction. This opener uses 4 AA batteries (not included), which is one reason I bought it. Other similar openers use 2 AA batteries. The opener didn’t get dirty, so I just wiped it off without using any water. I don’t want moisture to get into the mechanism and cause rust.I gave this great little can opener 5 stars on the presumption that it will last a long time. If it doesn’t, I’ll revise my review.

Cuts very well, on the outer side of the can, so there’s no sharp edges from the can lid. The magnet is very weak and won’t lift the lid off, so you have to do that with your hand.

I had problems opening bigger cans such as large cans of tomatoes. Itβs fine for smaller cans

Took a couple of tries, but once it started working it was great.

Eats batteries.

I found out this this can opener is good for little cans. The big ones not good. U have to put it back on the big cans many times before it will open it. A good price but please use it for little cans only or standard size cans.

the wheel that turns the can does not go down deep enough on alot of cans due to the rim being shallow. Can’t use this on Del Monte cans so far. Being returned

It opens cans easily just super slow.
