i just got it literally 15 minutes ago my time and used it to open a can of peas, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of diced carrots and a 16 oz can of tuna…i’m making tuna ala king…it went through the cans like a hot knife through butter.the primary reason i decided to get this was that in the last 3 years, i just realized this, i’ve spent nearly a hundred dollars on just can openers. can you believe that??? nearly one hundred dollars on stupid can openers that some didn’t even make it half way through a can of chicken noodle soup and others that just wore out over a couple of weeks to a couple of months…and NONE of them cost over $10 but every single one was made in the People’s Republic of You Know Where.i got fed up with it and decided to “buy once, cry once” with this one by EZ-DUZ-IT.now to the INITIAL review…CONS;It is not “ergo-dynamic”. which is just another marketing ploy to add a buck to the price. It is not compact. it’s a full sized can opener, not a Swiss Army knife. It is not outfitted in florals, pastels or vibrant colors. put down the Martha Stewart’s magazine and nobody gets hurt.PROS;It is really easy to use. like i said earlier, it went through four cans, three 12oz’s and one 16oz, like a hot knife through butter. the grip was secure, the rotating handle was EXTREMELY easy to use and i do have the beginnings of arthritis in both hands along with cubital tunal syndrome in my left arm and peripheral neuropathy in both arms. It’s not dainty. it’s built like a tank and if anything in your kitchen should survive a house fire, earthquake, wild fire, nuke strike, asteroid impact or mostly peaceful protest it should be your can opener. It’s “full constructed” as in, the handle “legs” go all the way down and don’t just end in a 1/8th or 1/4th inch tab glued into a plastic handle.so this this ends my initial review. i’ll be posting a 30 day, 90 day six month and 1 year follow up but as it stands right now, if you are in need of a truly decent quality can opener that will work and not give you the fits over a can of condensed milk then get this one.oh, here’s a few FYI’s…1. even though the description says that you can was with warm soapy water, DON’T and NEVER put ANY manual can opener into a dish washer. the best thing to do is to carefully, so as to not injure yourself, wipe down the can opener’s contact and cutting surfaces with a clean dry cloth or dish towel. don’t use oil. this can cause gumming and interfere with positive contact and lock-up with the can and the can opener.2. 99.999% of the gunk that gets onto and into your can opener comes from the can. simple solution is to just wipe the can’s top with a clean cloth or napkin. if you think that you need to use soap and water or cleaning wipes or sprays on your cans of food, you need to find a new grocery store.3. don’t just throw your can opener into a drawer. remember that this is a CUTTING INSTRUMENT. your $300 chef knife is a cutting instrument, albeit designed to cut different things differently, but it’s purpose is to cut. so make a dedicated space/place/spot for it. back when i was a child, there used to be kitchen drawer inserts and these had slots for knives, forks, tablespoons, teaspoons and one wide spot that was too short for knives and forks and too short for spoons. that was because it was the can opener’s place.thanks for taking the time to read my review and i hope the information i gave helps.

This truly is the best can opener that I have ever come across. I purchased it on a whim, prompted by a Bon Appetit recommendation, and had no occasion to use for quite a long while. My husband had the great fortune to be the first in the house to use the overlooked tool. His astonishment with the ease of opening the can of olives was evident. My turn would have to wait another two weeks. Rest assured, my satisfaction was, somehow, even greater.

Made in America…when the original Swing Away corporate Globalist moved their manufacturing to China, destroying a US business and jobs, an American Hero bought all their US plant equipment and restarted the US manufacturing business. Making the same American product, in America, with American labor. And, this is higher quality and performance than it’s cheap China counterfeit that tries to fool you into thinking Swing Away is any good anymore. They are not. EZ Duz It is better AND CHEAPER than the China made Swing Away.

I had a can opener for a long time, it broke a year ago after a period of becoming increasingly difficult to use. I bought a grocery store replacementβbecause what difference could it possibly make? I hated that &$#% can opener. It was so awful, it was barely functional. One day my husband and I were both at our witβs end trying to open a can. He said, βIβm buying a new can opener and itβs going to be expensive!β Reader, it was not expensive. But oh my god does it open cans. The click is divine as it clamps through the lid. And the roll? Like butter. Now I say, βIβm going to open a canβ and he says βcan I do it?β Donβt waste another day of your life fighting with a crappy can opener.

What can I say? I purchased a manual can opener from my grocery store. It was unreliable. Only opened cans when it wanted too. I use a can opener daily to open my dogsβ wet food and green beans. I purchased this can opener after doing lots of research. This is a wonderful can opener. It works every time. I highly recommend it.

It’s amazing how much heavier America made products are, tire gauges, can openers, and they last 10 times longer making the cost more than worth it….

I have looked for years for a decent hand held can opener. I would buy and they would break and most of them were awful. My daughter researched and found this one and told me about it.I am telling you this is the best (and i mean the Best) hand held can opener you will find!! You will never need another one!! I highly recommend this!!! Thank you!!!

Had the same one for 30 years. Was so dirty and still cut fairly well. These are so cheap, just get another one.Opens cans as good or better than most.Rubber handles need to be glued on,a little epoxy fixes that.
