Janet San Diego –
This item comes in a box that makes it gift-friendly to a relative or friend. There are leather-like straps (not sure actual material, but sturdy and resilient to water) on each paddle, which did not show signs of damage after our first use when we did not get to cleaning them for two days (and they were exposed to, or submerged for short periods, in sink water). I looked at a competitor set of paddles before buying these, and they were comparable in price, style, and size… ultimately, despite there being no reviews yet for this one (I think it must be a newer offering on Amazon), I chose because the companyβs branding looked more βold-fashioned country kitchen Americanβ (i.e. special/quaint – especially with the added touch of cute product packaging that looks like a gift box), and I am not disappointed. There is also a logo stamped into the wood on the back sides of the paddles, very nice detail that adds to the feel of high manufacturing care and quality of the product. We are new to making our own butter but these work as described for the task at hand. Nice pieces of wood with no problematic splinters, and well carved without defect on the diveted faces of the paddles (that make grabbing a fresh block of churned butter possible from its churning jar). Our only suggestion, and this may show our novice experience, would be to further differentiate from competitors by offering this in its existing length, as well as a slightly Extra Long version (just an inch or two more) for those who may complain that they are too short. I have not seen anything other than the one length through my Amazon product research, so it must be the standard length, but I know that some customers might really be interested in having options for personal comfort. Just a thought, thanks for your piece in helping get us started as new homemade butter-makers!

I am still playing with them, but I have made butter and used these paddles which work great. I do plan on trying my hand at making Gnocchi. That should be a learning experience. I am very please with the quality, it looks to be made of fine wood, well crafted, and should stand up to years of use.Make sure you butter has been rinse your butter with cold water until water is clear, run cold water over your paddles. Make sure your butter is cool it will help it from sticking. You can now add a little of your butter and use the paddles to press the milk out of it, you want as much butter milk out as you can get to make the butter last longer.Cut butter into the size you want and use your paddles to shape it. If you want balls just cut into small cubes and roll it around on your paddles. The paddles does a nice job at getting the extra butter milk out without using your hands which can get messy. The price is great. I am very happy with this product.

Bought a month or two ago and just used to make butter today. Did great to get excess buttermilk out. I hand washed and left to air dry. Came back and saw one cracked!! Loved using them, just wish it would have lasted more than one use.

I love Gnocchi even though chicken seems so dry and chewy nowadays. It’s been fun making my own Gnocchi since the soup at the local big name restaurant never seems to be prepared the same from one day to another. They make the broth so thick, I decided I needed to make my own. I purchased the set of Gnocchi boards for the total experience, but while it is fun using the boards, more often then not, I just use a floured fork like my Grandma did.

They work as intended. I use it for butter, not much for making noodles. The leather cord for hanging up is very nice. Just make sure you follow the cleaning instructions so they wonβt warp or split in the dishwasher.
