I just use it after almost a month of receiving it to make candy apples. The temperature wouldn’t go pass 200 and with my calculation to cook longer, my apples turns out great with easy clean up. Set thermometer inside a cup or glass of warm water after cooling down before washing. Another thing is, if you have bad eyesight this item is not for you. I had to keep taking it out the pot to see the mercury with turning it to view. After reading other reviews, I have to agree that this isn’t one of the best product but the price is good if you don’t use it much. Mines was shipped in a box without bubble wrap and can understand why breakage is possible. I’m lucky mines arrived in good condition during shipment without it.

This is the 2nd candy thermometer I have bought, same brand and all. Apparently if you drop it on to the floor it breaks!? Anyways my bad. I like to make caramel sauce and started dabbling in some hard candies. I like how it comes with an easy to use clip that clips to the side of the pot, you can also twist the thermometer to where you can see the degrees, my stove has a slant to it so everything kinda leans forward so I clip it to the side of the pan closer to the deeper end of the pot and then twist it to where I can read the degrees. My only complaint is that it fogs up and so I end up having to wipe the glass frequently in order to see what temp it’s at. Other than that, which can be a bit annoying especially if you have to work fast once it reaches a certain temp. Oh and it is in Farenhite and Celsius.

Harder to slide into side of pan, but stays put nicely once you get it there.

I like to use this for both deep frying and candy making. It has an easy to read gauge and has a clip on the side to keep it in the pan while cooking.

As with all candy thermometers Iβve used, itβs always a little difficult to get just the right visual angle to read it, but it worked well and seemed accurate. I liked that the metal βhookβ was tight enough to actually hold the thermometer in place on the pan, and I also appreciated the small βhandleβ to use when lifting it off. I would purchase this again based on my first 2 experiences making caramels.
