I was previously using a traditional garlic press (the little device with two handles that you squeeze together) when a recipe called for minced garlic because I was too lazy to actually mince it with a knife. However, then I had to clean said device, which was a pain. This actually produces more of a mince, which is actually great since thatβs what most of the recipes I use call for. It doesnβt waste a bunch of garlic like a traditional press and itβs super quick to clean. The shape of the rocker even acts as a little bowl for when you need to actually use the garlic!I think Iβve had this for two weeks now and use it most nights to cook dinner.Highly recommend if you use a lot of minced garlic, want kitchen tools that take up less space and to cut down on cleanup time.

I’ve seen reviews on Amazon complaining that the Joseph Joseph garlic rocker produces bits of garlic that are larger than a standard press. That’s true, but in my initial tests it’s feeling like an advantage rather than a problem. Finely minced garlic burns almost immediately in a hot frying pan, but the larger bits created by this device seem to hold up better to high heat. So far I’ve made a couple stir frys and roasted vegetables, all of which had a pleasant garlic flavor with no burned, raw or “too large” pieces encountered when eating. For raw preparations (salad dressings, salsa) you’ll probably want to stick with a microplane grater or a Vitamix blender. As an added benefit, the rocker is fun to use, produces zero waste and is MUCH easier to clean than a traditional press. I love throwing it in the sink knowing I won’t have to pick at it later.

Easy to use for Seniors. Gets the job done quickly.

Easy to use with minimal effort, can be tossed in the dishwasher but garlic does tend to get stuck in some of the smaller holes.

Works perfectly

Just got this and I’ve used it twice. I love it! Very solid, ergonomic, works great. Just place it over the garlic clove and press, mashing right and left till it all comes through in a matter of seconds. So much simpler than the many garlic presses I’ve owned, where you press, scrape off, press again, scrape off, then have to clean..and if you put in DW, they eventually fall apart. My only gripe is that I’ve handwashed these first two time using, and the garlic does get stuck in the holes (edit – used a little brush and works great). Would be nice to include a tool to push that through or tips on how to do it easily, BUT I have not thrown it in the dishwasher yet. So will see if that works better. And no fear of it falling apart in DW because it’s just one solid stainless steel (I think) piece.Either way, I’ve ordered a bunch more for stocking stuffers (adult children!) and fun little gifts for friends who enjoy cooking!

Be sure to place garlic on flat side, then crush. If you place it on the curve side on the chopping board it can fly off. Easy to use.
