This is a space hog; the bowl is bigger than my largest mixing bowl!!This is 10.5 inches in diameter and stands 6.5 inches high. It takes up way too much space in my small kitchen. Mechanically this spinner works really well but it is just too large for small families in small spaces.PROS:–Easy to use–Spins well–Has a “brake” to stop the spin–Outer bowl is suitable to use as a serving dish–Lid has a nice seal to the bowl which makes it picnic/travel friendly–Non skid bottom holds bowl in place on counterCONS:–Way too big!!–Outer bowl has a raised rim around the inside bottom of the bowl and a raised cone in the middle; these are used to keep the basket in place while spinning but they impede the “serving dish” functionality–Difficult to clean lid (due to the pump mechanism)–Bowls are not dishwasher friendly – probably wouldn’t fit in most dishwasher top racks anyway!!In summary – this is a beautiful item for LARGE families with LARGE kitchens.

I have gone for years without a salad spinner in my kitchen, not wanting to have it take up space in my cupboards. Well, I saw this and wanted to try it because I love KitchenAid products. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The amount of times I’ve found myself pulling this out has made it well-worth the storage space it takes. It come with the three traditional parts you find in a salad spinner: lid, basket, and bowl. I am in love with the “spinner” part of the design. Gone are the days of having to use a spinner with a string that “rewinds” itself (or often didn’t), instead it has been replaced with a convenient push-down part in the center of the lid for you to essentially “pump” to spin. You can get a really fast spin going in a matter of seconds! This salad spinner is a really great size and has a huge volume, you can pretty much fit enough lettuce for an entire salad in one go. It is super easy to clean. To make it easier on myself and to avoid getting water in the mechanics of the lid I tend to just wipe the lid down with a washcloth.Overall I am so happy with this product! The quality is excellent and it is something every home cook should purchase, it will make your life just that much easier!

We had a very similar Oxo salad spinner for years that I loved, until someone put it in the dishwasher and the bowl got warped. This unit has been an excellent and comparable replacement. It spins better than our previous one, brakes easily, and the pump locks closed. You can’t put this one in the dishwasher either, but it literally takes seconds to wash. We use it often for lettuce, and it does a great job of getting the water out. The kids love to pump it, so it is a fun way to involve them in making dinner. It is perfect for a big family or a big salad eater, but it will take up quite a bit of space in your cupboard. It also looks nice, and the bowl is sleek enough to serve your salad- so less dishes!

Works excellent

I had a small salad spinner with a green lid in another brand name. It was βjust okay.β It took me 3-4 batches to help get rid of the βsomeβ of the water, after I rinsed and drained the water away from a head of Romaine that had been cut into thirds. Plus, I still had to blot and dry it myself, so nothing was looking for a larger size to save time with the drying process because my lettuce still had water on it after spinning awhile. Then, for the first time I noticed there was a large KitchenAid one on Amazon! I didnβt even know KitchenAid made them! It was a lot more expensive than the other kinds with the green lids, but I own several KitchenAid small and large appliances, and Iβve never had a single complaint. Finally, I decided I didnβt anything to lose in buying it because of Amazonβs superior return policy. After I received it, I was pleasantly surprised by its huge size. When I again cut up my romaine into thirds, I was shocked that I was able to easily get all of it inside with room to spare! It was when I pumped it up several times that I was completely blown away!!! It kept spinning and spinning and spinning as if it had its own motor and was plugged into electricity!!!!! OMGosh!! I pumped it up again, even more this time, and it spun even 3-4 times longer than the first time!! I didnβt think it was ever going to stop spinning! Of course, I could have easily stopped the spinning manually, but why would I want to do that?? I was having a blast!!! When it eventually stopped spinning, I emptied out so much more water than I ever had with that other smaller kind. At this point I couldnβt help but pump it up one more time. I let it spin like a top, walked away, and continued preparing supper. When it stopped again, there was very little water left outside its basket. I dumped out my Romaine and it only had a few drops of water left on all of my romaine lettuce put together!!! I am soo impressed and happy with this amazing KitchenAid product! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salad spinner to everyone, because it saves time and it works so well. Yes, it does cost more money, but it is worth every single penny!!! ? ???

KitchenAid Universal Salad Spinner withPump Mechanism and Large Bowl, 7.43Quart, Empire RedOur previous salad spinner cost much less money but did not last. This salad spinner fromKitchenAid is definitely going to stand the test of time. The salad spinner arrived without anydamage and was well packaged. The spinner is easy to use and truly gets the moisture out ofour lettuce with ease. The brake function is a great addition to this process and works well. Welove that the bottom has some grip so that when itβs in use, it does not slip all over the counter. The basket inside is a great size and holds a lot of veggies at once. It is on the pricier side, however, this salad spinner is definitely worth it.
