lighter than many other brands, sharp, works well, but feels less substantial.

The more expensive version is much more comfortable to hold, but I’m very happy with this one too. I refuse to use any other brands’ y peeler

These are the standard in many a professional kitchen for a reason. They’re sharp, comfortable enough to peel a 50 pound sack of potatoes, and compact enough for a drawer with a big ole hole for a tool rack peg. The blade takes off thin layers, so you’re not wasting the product (but thick enough that the potato peels can go in a fryer and be oh so tasty).I’m not a huge fan of the translucent oval ones, the opaque rounded rectangle handle seems more sturdy and feels better in my hands, but I have quite large ones. If you don’t like whatever handle you got, try the other style, I’m sure they make both for a reason.Caveat: It is a high carbon blade that needs care. It WILL rust on you if you don’t take care of it, same as a real wok or a cast iron pan. Wash or rinse off immediately after use, and thoroughly shake or towel dry after and this peeler will take care of you for years with no fuss.

Years ago, my wife bought half a dozen peelers to find a good one. The best one had a heavy and expensive stainless steel handle. It felt hefty and had a sharp blade. However, when I attempted to remove the rind from a well aged parmesan cheese the blade just buckled. After reading a few reviews, I bought this peeler. When it arrived, my wife was not too happy that I replaced her high end peeler with a junky looking plastic thing. Before even trying it, she went out and bought an all metal peeler. However, after using her all metal one and the Rikon, she is sold on the Original Swiss Peeler. She went out and bought more for our kids. While I have not tested it on hard cheese rinds, it works amazingly well on winter squash which seems to be the standard in our house for peeler testing.

When I first got the peeler, I was not so sure how if I would love it, considering I used an Oxo peeler before that was very comfortable. I was in for a surprise – every time I picked it up, it felt like I was using it on the vegetables very fast and smoothly too, for the speed. Taking spots out of potatoes is also easy using this peeler. Love using it! The pack of 3 is best for me, I have shared it with a friend who loves it too. The pack of 3 is the best buy – excellent value for money!

Very easy to use, must hand wash and dry thoroughly or the will rust.

What’s not to like?If you want something fancy looking, it’s probably isn’t it. It’s basically an inexpensive really good peeler at a fair price. Works like it should and has become somewhat of a standard. I like mine. Got a set of three of them and gave away some as gifts.Makes a nice little stocking stuffer.
