This is a more compact grinder, which I like since my cat thought my other, taller grinder would be fun to push off the counter. This one is a bit harder to move, which in this case is quite important. Another thing is that it seems to allow in less humidity, which is important when you in Hawaii in the open air–no heating or cooling. Regular shakers cog in a few hours. So far, this has worked for me, and I am able to add salt to my food without a struggle. And it looks nice, too.

I bought this item after my old Oxo brand coarse salt grinder fell apart after several years of use. I’ve had this new one for a short while & it seems to be working quite well. I’m also happy that it was relatively easy to clean before the first use. Also, the included cover helps keep the salt from spilling out & making a mess. I’m keeping my fingersd & toes crossed hoping that this item will last at least 2-5 years.

Small grinder is well constructed and could be used for camping or picnic due to small size that fits in palm of hand. No salt or pepper is included so it must be added.

Took it apart to wash in hot soapy water. Ended up separating all the parts, including inner spring, ceramic ‘head’ and hard plastic grind-adjusting piece. This allowed the unit to dry well (and I put it back together again with ease by leaving pieces ‘upright’ to dry and reassemble.) Nice thick glass holds more salt crystals than our old plastic grinder that had cracked.
