This scale does everything as advertised. I am an executive chef in a high end tea shop that has a huge focus on baking. Scones, crumpets, fresh in house made bread and English muffins, along with a signature cake that’s been served at this same restaurant for 140 years that’s in the James Beard classics cookbook. The scales I had were almost as old as the restaurant. Old, rusty, no metric conversion and generally not accurate enough to maintain any kind of consistency day to day. I shopped around and every other digital scale that had all of the features of this one all cost at least twice as much and my boss wouldn’t give me the budget to buy a true balance bakers scale that cost $400. This scale has a pretty big platform to hold even bigger measuring vessels while still being able to see the display. The platform is also removable for easy cleaning. The display is nice and big so it’s easy to read and super bright. The hinged control and display cover is a nice feature and is easily removed for cleaning. It also came with two flexible plastic control and display covers that will allow you to change display setting with it in place. I love how I can change the display from just ounces to just pounds with another setting that displays both pounds and ounces so when I’m scaling out ingredients for bread and need 5lbs of flour and then 2oz of yeast, I don’t have to change the display. It also will convert to metric to grams and kilograms. Do yourself a favor and get the power cord right away. It does come with cheapo batteries which is a nice feature if you need portability but in a commercial kitchen, battery power probably won’t last long. It does have an auto off feature which in my opinion is a tad short and it even turns itself off when on AC power which I’m not thrilled about but it’s minor when you consider what you get for the money. I might be able to disable the auto off feature but I’ve only been using this scale for two weeks. So far it’s been perfect. The instructions recommend calibrating the scale before using it. I already had a 1oz, 1gr, 1lb, and 1kg, calibration weight set and it was dead on right out of the box. The only other thing that I wish was different was I wish it had a bit more weight to it so it stayed put a little better but now I’m nitpicking. I havent used the baking percentage feature yet as all the recipes I use already have multiple batch measurements as well as metric and standard weights listed so i can really speak for that. All in all, for what this scale costs, its awesome. Great scale for the money.

I love it and wholeheartedly recommend.I use it for my Sourdough baking. Easy to clean, it uses batteries or wall charger. It’s never stopped in the middle of measuring my ingredients. The stainless area where you put the food is removable to wash stainless steel. I have gone through 3 other scales in the past two years. From $20 to the Zwilling JA Henckels, for over $50. They were all terrible. It’s not fun to be in the middle putting your ingredients in a bowl when the scale decides to die.Not with this one. At the same time it’s not too big and it’s light. I keep it on a shelf in the top cabinet that I can reach, out of the way. Uses the same space as the fancy sexy design of the others. It looks like a scale and it works like a scale should. Just buy it, you’ll be happy you did.One more thing, if you wanted to learn and use it, it has a way to do the baker’s math for you. (I just use a timer app and a Sourdough app for that.Full Disclosure: Nobody has given me or offered me anything for the review. I just thought it would help others tired of bad scales if I wrote it.)

My baking just got easier and more fun.First, Readability. This scale is taller (not so much wider) than my last scale that I kept for years because it “still worked” and according to a stick of butter (113g), it was accurate. For small items, fine. For anything else, I finally got tired of contorting my body, sliding, tilting and half-lifting bowls (jeopardizing weight accuracy) just to read the numerical weight. I even tried a magnifying glass. I decided It was time for an upgrade. Wanting this new scale to last equally long, I did my homework by gathering information from numerous sources not related to Amazon. . With this My Weigh scale (KD-8000), I can place my large 13 quart mixing bowl on top and easily read the numbers.Second, On/Off time. My old scale turned off automatically. . Ugh. It is so easy for me to walk away from weighing ingredients to check something in/on the stove, only to have to come back and reweigh items. With this scale, I programmed it to stay on continuously (fabulous feature) and use the electric cord (included) as to not worry about batteries. Batteries are included, I simply prefer the electric cord.Third, Calibration accuracy. I learned from my research (and old scale) that most scales today are and stay fairly accurate unless abused. Even so, I did buy a calibrating weight. This was not necessary because the scale was accurate right out of the box. I will randomly check the scale’s accuracy since I already have the weight.I do wish I had bought this sooner.

This does everything you want a scale to do. I understand the reason behind covering the working controls, but that’s really irritating when you are using it a lot. It’s large and takes up a lot of room on the counter, not easy for me to find a place to store it either.

I though the body was going to be made of metal. It is metallic silver plastic. The picture is too low resolution to tell the difference. This looks tacky on my counter top next to stainless steel appliances. There are much cheaper scales with the similar accuracy that are smaller and look much nicer.

I threw my last (it was new) scale in trash. The last scale worked for measurement it just turned off before I was done with each measurement, which was very irritating. With the KD-8000 scale I love the fact you can plug it in or use batteries. It is easy to clean, and I love protective cover which can be left on or removed. Great design! Love this product!!!!

The difference ways I can weight. Some ingredients I need to measure in percentage and as well as your basics. This scale so me that advantage along with easy to read and accuracy.

Having bought a number of cheaper scales throughout the years, I wish I’d just bought this one first. Live and learn! It’s tremendous. It’s great being able to read the display no matter how big an object is sitting on the scale.
