For years I cooked on an electric stove with coil burners. Then I had a gas stove. Then another electric coil stove. Then a flat glass-top stove. Now another gas stove. And in a few years were redoing the kitchen and will get yet another gas stove.Every stove I’ve used has taken a different amount of time to boil eggs. So I’m never really sure how long to set the timer for until I’ve done several experiments.Don’t like wasting food to do kitchen experiments? Then this weird plastic egg is the answer. I did actually test it on my stove with several eggs. I placed it in the pan with water, salt, and several eggs then lit the burner. When each ring on the plastic egg would turn red I’d take out an egg and plunge it into its own small bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. At the end of it, I had a few bowls of eggs, and each were actually cooked the perfect amount for the types of eggs the little plastic egg cooker showed it would be.No more wondering if the whites are set! No more powdery yolks when you want them runny! No more chalky yolks! No more grey-green rings around the yolks!I’ve no idea what magic these weird plastic egg timers are made of, but I kind of don’t care because the darn thing has been right every single time I’ve used it.Now, it won’t ding when the eggs are done, so keep an eye on it. But you also don’t have to math out when you think the yolks will be the texture you want, just look at the plastic egg timer and it’ll show you.

Really like how easy it is to get the eggs out altogether the right time. I love soft boiled eggs and this is the perfect item for it. Very easy to use, just watch the red turn to white and take out at the desired point.I would ha e given it 5 but the insert that is encased is not flat to the base causing the lines to not change evenly around from red to white. As seen in the photos. I will be ordering another as its price is very good to see if it was just this one I got.

Was very suspicious that this would work – but it does! Easy to use, easy to read. No more guessing. You can cook eggs to the exact amt of doneness that you want. Wait for white to cover whole area of med for med egg, or if you want egg a little softer than medium but not totally soft/runny then remove egg when white just begins to enter the medium area. Very dependable

I have used this item a couple of times now and it great. I did soft boiled and I pulled them out and cooled them just as the indicator hit the first line and they came out perfect, every one of them. You want consistent eggs each time this is the thing to use. Used properly you won’t be disappointed.
