I had an OXO salad spinner the sort where you press down the center. It is a best seller that came highly recommended, and it lasted exactly one year before the plunger busted. I never liked it because you had to really bash it to get it going (which may explain why the plunger busted on me.)So I bought this. The geared design means that the inner basket really gets moving fast without a lot of work. There is a grate in the top that allows you to pour out the water without having to open and close the lid, which also locks onto the bowl, another nice touch. I much prefer this over the plunger model – easier to use and better results. Note that this exact same model is sold under other brand names for less, so – 1 star for that.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and washed it before using. Used it once and it worked great. Put it in the sink to get washed again and added some other stuff into it that would get handwashed again too (it is a very large bowl). Well apparently it couldn’t handle the load of a couple extra bowls in it and it completely broke in three spots! I would expect that a bowl costing $30 wouldn’t break so easily! Very upset that I wasted my money on this, clearly it’s a cheaply made product.EDIT: As soon as it broke, I contacted the seller and they replaced it. I’ve had no issues with the replacement and it works great. I kept it at 4 stars instead of 5 because 1) my first one did break and even though they replaced it, that’s an annoying process to have to go through and 2) I still feel like $30 is too much for what the product is. I loved being able to take it apart to clean it. I also love being able to drain, spin and drain again. I appreciate that I haven’t broken it yet. The thing I wish it had was a way to hold it still while spinning the handle. I have a tendency to put my hand in the way of the spinning handle. If it had a handle of some type on the side to help keep it still, it would be perfect.

I like this. BE CAREFUL OF FINGERS NEAR THE HOLE IN THE TOP! I got one caught while spinning and it ripped off a good chunk. Easy to use and clean. I like that you don’t have to remove the lid to dump the water and can spin a few times before opening

I’m sorry but I really prefer my old spinner. This one works well but I have to do several spin sessions to get the water off the vegetables. The old one only needed one good spin session. This one is a little complicated at first. The old one was so simple. But this one is very sturdy! Made very solid. Much sturdier than the old one. I like it!
