After reading a lot fo reviews for several brands, I chose these and they make cutting apart a whole chicken or ribs, or any other hard to cut food with incredible ease. They are comfortable to use and designed to keep your fingers safe from the very sharp blades. Cleanup is easy- the two sections separate, are put in the dishwasher and come out sparkling clean- they make my work so much easier.

Highly recommended. Purchased based on evaluation from Serious Eats.I bought these specifically to use for spatchcocking my Thanksgiving turkey.Last year I tried the Kershaw Taskmaster Shears, which were OK but took quite a bit of effort to cut through the thicker ribs.These OXO shears cut through mostly like butter. And this was on large-ish 17.5lb bird.Small caveat is that I have pretty good grip strength, and there were still a few ribs that needed a small bit of coaxing. But it was truly night-and-day, with over half the bird feeling like I was cutting cardboard.I will say that I wouldn’t use these for everyday utility shears. They are on the larger side, and the curved blade will probably get in the way. I’m going reserve these for cutting through bone and use my Kershaw shears for all other kitchen utility tasks (which they are exceptionally good at).

Made quick work of spatchcocking the turkey. Grip is good even when a bit greasy. Cuts through bone fairly easily. Easy to clean and locks shut for storage.Only fair at cutti g through turkey skin. All in all, a good buy. Bought one for my parents. Getting a second one for me.

I was hesitant to splurge on these when there were so many $15 options. These things are diesel!! I easily broke down a raw 15lb turkey. So glad I upgraded from my kitchen scissors. If you break down poultry often these are a must-have!!

Got these shears just in time for Thanksgiving and used them to spatchcock our maple bourbon turkey for the Traeger. They worked great cutting through the hard bones and ligaments. My grip on them was great.

After MUCH research for the BEST poultry shears, I discovered multiple different independent reviewers suggested these. We use them many times a week to cut through raw cornish game hen bones & meat for our dogs. After a few months however, the spring mechanisim failed. We contacted the manufacturer about a replacement part to find out if they’d replace it or we had to buy a new part. OXO replaced the entire shears at NO cost to us. They stand by their product. I agree they ARE the BEST!
