I am fairly conservative and don’t lightly abide “re-inventing the wheel.” I definitely felt skeptical of any claim to re-inventing a freakin’ can-opener. But I read about this can opener on a credible tech website, so I tried it. Everything the review said was true. I have owned it for over a year, and it is a better can opener! And it is interesting enough to get me to write a ditty about it.It is a bit off-putting at first because it does not have “arms” that clamp down onto the can like every other can opener I had used in my 56 years on Earth. (Electric or manual). Instead, you hold it up against the can, turn the knob once or twice, and the cutting disc and the support disc rotate into place and holds the can, itself, while cutting. It can do so because the cutting disc cuts sideways into the side of the can under the lid instead of cutting downward into the lid of the can. All the support disc needs to do is hold onto the top lip of the can outwards, with the cutting wheel pressing inwards sideways into the can.Once I fumbled with it the first two or three cans and learned how to do it, I’ve had no problems. Functionally, it works as seamlessly, easy, and quick as a normal can opener.First, as advertised, the cut edge always comes out smooth and safe, unlike the jagged edge produced by all can openers that cut down into the lid. Not sharp edges at all. For that, alone, it is superior and worth it. Not a huge problem, but when you can avoid sharp pieces of metal, that’s an improvement. The sharp metal becomes unnecessary.Second, because you cut the entire lid off instead of cut the lid into a circular piece, you can replace the lid back on the can to put the remainder of the can in the fridge: particularly useful for pet food. I bought some fancy little plastic lids to “re-seal” a half-used can of pet food, which prevents the food from drying out in the fridge while also preventing spills and aromas from pet food from stinking up the fridge. Those plastic lids are not necessary, now. The lid doesn’t not “snap” on as tightly as the plastic lids, but they do a good enough job re-sealing it for the brief time the can sits in the fridge.Third, because it only has one handle instead of two handles that clamp together, it takes up much less space in the utensil drawer.Fourth, although you cannot “see” the cut progress and finish like standard can openers, you can feel a change in tension when the cutting disc completes its turn around the can. Then you can just lift the lid off with the opener as a handle. The lid stays on the opener, the can stays on the counter. Or you can turn the knob the other direction to release the cutting wheel’s tension, and just pull the lid off. (I prefer using the device to pull the lid off because that confirms it is done and doesn’t need to be re-seated, yada, yada.) But the upshot is that you do not need to “dig” into the can with your finger or fingernail to pull the lid out from inside the can. Because it cuts the lid off, you just take the entire lid off.The one downside is that I used to use the circular piece of the lid that the standard can openers cut off to press down into cans of tuna fish and squeeze out the water. Because this opener cuts the entire lid off from underneath the lip, the lid will not go inside the can to serve as a press. A feature in one aspect is also a small drawback. But I don’t eat much tuna fish, so that is not a huge problem. I just use the lid as a strainer (hold it on while water escapes through the crack) instead of a press.Still, it is smaller, safer, and better. Strange as it might sound, they did successfully re-invent the can-opener!

When you first look at this, you’re definitely not convinced it’s able to open cans at all, but it does an amazing job! The lid edge is very smooth all around after being cut, and you can put it back on if you store your food in the can. It also doesn’t require very much force. It can be difficult to see where you started opening the can, but that’s my only gripe. It removes the lid for you with the magnet, so you don’t have to worry about fishing out the lid once you’re done going around the edge.

It is another concept but once you got the trick it is awesome, the secret is in the angle. I decided try this because on my place we got a can opener graveyard. I first tried in a middle-to-big size can and magic: once I got the trick it was really easy, I don’t know if it will be resiliant too but so far it is great, I recomended 100%.

This is the best can opener I have ever used! I love how there is not sharp edge left on the can! I even use this on the pop top lids just to avoid the sharp ridge. Makes getting all of the contents out of the can really easy. Also, since the opener never touches any food inside the can, there is no washing required.

So i am so use to buying these things at the dollar store or dollar general but i got sick of replacing them started looking in Amazon & found this one my sister had one of these not the exact same one but similar and it works great!! So if your thinking of getting one get it you wonβt regret it. Maybe Iβll post a video on how to use ?

This can opener performs as described. It does a great job cutting through the side of the can lid, leaving no sharp edges that are likely to produce cuts. Be aware that the rim of the lid can be thick, and turning the handle to produce the cut can require significant effort. I have a touch of arthritis in my hands, which made things harder – about all I could do. I got it open, but I was wishing for a much larger turning handle before i was done.

Easy to use, sturdy, good quality at a good price. For whatever reason, these have been hard to find locally. Not sure if itβs a trend thing. Before this was available everywhere, then disappeared. When I need it, itβs hard to find! So I am happy with this product.

The only issue we has was that we were not sure which way to hold it the first time we used it – we had it rotated 90 degrees.Even using large cans, the grip and turning handle are comfortable to use.I am hoping it is durable; I will update this review if it ever fails.
