This is a provisional review until I can live with the product a while longer. It’s a nice-looking mill, but I have two hesitations about it: First, it’s very lightweight. It seems to be a thin layer metal wrapped around a plastic shell. I have an older Peugeot mill that is solid metal, and it feels more substantial. It’s smart that it has a plastic base, as long as it lasts, because I guess that won’t harm surfaces like the sharp metal rim of the older one could. This new one just feels a little cheap; some reviews say, “You’ll never need to buy another.” I doubt that.More importantly, with six settings, it was a design error not to offer a really big grind for the cracked-pepper effect, like for steaks, etc. At the other end of the spectrum, no one I know needs 2-3 settings that are basically “fine dust.”I haven’t decided whether to keep this yet, but I thought other would benefit from these initial impressions.

It’s beautiful but big. I will need a bit of time for my small hands to adapt. But it grinds nicely.

Classic French product, high quality workmanship. I think they have been making these since the 19th century. I like to dial in the different grain sizes, with infinite modulation rather than ratcheted to specific steps in grain size. Easy to hold in the hand, I love the machined stainless steel. Extremely durable and grinds out the product reliably, uniformly and smoothly. Shape and fit in the hand means less fatigue when grinding out a lot, at least in my experience. Somewhat susceptible to humid conditions (less/slower product when humid) but I gather that is the case with any pepper mill.

Just ordered this as a gift and itβs a very nice , not heavy or bulky mill. Would recommend this

I bought this to replace a similar looking pepper grinder I’ve had for probably 20 years. That one just came apart one day. It was given as a gift so I have no idea what the brand was. I keep it out on my counter to use to cook with so it has to be attractive. I found this one through some research. Honestly, it grinds the pepper so consistently no matter what level of grind you have it on. Much better than my last one. It also has 5 grind settings rather than just 3 that I typically see. It’s a beautiful looking stainless piece that would definitely make a nice gift for someone.

Quite disappointed that both salt and pepper grinders leave a mess!
