I bought this primarily to grind a coarse Himalayan salt that I like to use. The previous salt mill I used had just an adjustable nut on top and you had to find the size grind you wanted thru trial and error. Not a big deal in the big scheme of things but I do like having clearly marked and repeatable settings. The only minor problem I have run into is that the coarse salt I use occasionally has bits that are a bit larger than the 4mm size suggested for use in this mill. When it runs into one of those the mill will momentarily jam but a bit of firmer back and forth wrist twist will power thru that. One problem I occasionally run into is that while I do not have particularly large hands I sometimes find that when gripping this mill that my hand is overlapping the adjustable settings ring and that I will sometimes inadvertently change the grind size while grinding (especially when running into a large chunk of salt as mentioned above). While that is a personal technique flaw and not a flaw of this mill itself I kinda wish I had gotten a 9″ version of this mill. I may just have to get one of those nice looking 9″ red lacquer models for my Himalayan salt and use this 7″ for some other type of salt.I’m giving this mill just 4 stars at the moment as I have only been using it for a few months. If it is till operating fine a couple years down the road I’ll try to remember to come back with an update. At the moment though I am very pleased with this mill.

This is a great salt mill. I got the pepper mill first, and had to add the salt mill. Itβs a bonus that itβs cheaper. I love its huge range of grain sizes. I highly recommend Peugeot salt and pepper mills.

The product is good and whatβs best is the preferred way to select the grained salt.

The product is excellent. this was listed as the 9″ salt grinder yet I was sent the 7″ version. Instead of getting a great the price on a returned 9″ I paid the going price for the 7″.I thought I was getting an amazing deal…..1st Amazon search feature is flawed, so often polluted with similar but not the same item as you’re looking for. 2nd this was listed incorrectly as the 9″ . Not a bargain on a returned item. intended to return but have been ill. Missed my return date but wanted to share my experience.

Bought this with a pepper grinder of same brand because of a NYT review saying it is the best. No matter how you adjust it, the salt comes out as fine powder. So if you want bigger granules for, say, marinating a steak, this won’t work. Otherwise works fine.

easy to grip. not too heavy

This was purchased as a Christmas gift so hasn’t been used yet. Our own experience with Peugeot grinders has been excellent over many years so we were confident that this one would be as well.

Having the 9 inch pepper mill, I wanted a salt mill to match. The pepper mill has been a rock solid performer and I expected the same for this salt mill. Unfortunately, I was let down in that regard. The salt mill operates smoothly, but the output of this mill is minimal no matter what setting it’s on. It’s hard to determine how much salt is actually coming out of it. The wood, and internal hardware all seem fine and decent quality. I suppose it’s just the design that allows this to happen. Although I’ve kept it, and use it, I just wish it would have a greater output like it’s better performing pepper mill cousin.
