This thing is great. I tried an automatic can opener that was utter garbage, and this replaces it with flying colors.I really like the magnet to pull the top out, keeps my fingers nice and safe! The only thing I donβt like about is that it shreds the paper label, so that either gets all over the counter or falls into the bowl when I pour the contents out.Other than that this is a great can opener

Typical durability problem as with all of this type with the large plastic grip for turning. The grip strips out after a while and the opener is useless. Have tried several different brands and they all did the same thing. After about a year the turning handle strips out. Going back to the old-fashioned type with just a bonded metal key for turning. Not as comfortable to use but lasts until the blade wears out.

I read lots of reviews before deciding on this can opener. I want to dispel some of the comments. First, it is a bit hard for this old lady to figure things out. I know there is a magnet, but I did not see it. So, I used the old age approach. Put it near metal and see where the magnet attrachs (more the can opener around). Got it. The magnet is quite strong. When I used the can opener, attaching it and rotating the cutter CLOCK wise (per instructions), it does great. When you’ve cut completely around the can, move the rotating cutter to a diagonal position. This allows you to tip the opener toward the lid so the magnet can grip the lid. Off it comes!. The cut edge of the lid is not sharp. Great safety for my old fingers. I hope this makes sense. I really like mine.

I rarely have to open a can but when I did I had about 10 can openers and none of them worked. Finally this one did so all the others are now in the trash.
