It took me 4 cans to figure out how to use! Instructions did not instruct to pull the knob!1.) Set opener on the can and pull the knob away to secure.2.) Turn knob as you pull gently!3.) Turn knob until a complete circumference, 360 deg.4.) Repeat gently, if can is not completely cut open. Gently! Reverse knob to unlatch.Do not be aggressive, as the harder you turn the knob, it will grind slivers of metal off the top of the can.Be very gentle with the knob! Or you will have metal shards on the rim of the can.I still prefer the old style plunge knife version. I may keep this one.

I prefer a manual can opener (in case power is out/don’t want another bulky and plugged-in appliance) and have tried for years to find a good one… but have trouble because they break if I squeeze too hard or they just don’t work so well/I have to struggle to either make the initial puncture and/or turning it to get the lid off completely because it cuts part of the lid but not all of it.(I realize that this is mostly a ME problem with manual can openers, but regardless– if you are another rare individual having a similar struggle, you know what I’m talking about.)This one does require some hand strength to turn it but it works very well every time and leaves no sharp edges. I love it!(Please note that some cans require the more traditional type of opener due to how they are made–this one cuts on the side of the can, not the top.)

So far this is working well. I am not for sure how the durability will be at this point. It cuts a nice smooth edge, taking the entire can lid off, which is nice. The magnet feature is also nice. My one dislike, is that it is actually hard to get the lid off the can opener (it is almost too tight of a fit with the magnet and the little space between the wheeler and cutter).

I followed the instructions to open a can of VanCamp pork and beans. The top did not separate and lift from the can. I repeated the process and used a knife to pry the top up which should not be required. I will continue this “experiment” and may revise my review if I get positive results. I had greater expectations and was disappointed…I may return this item. I did notice the box looked like it had been opened before so that was a concern. Then my second use was to open a can of Bush’s Blackeye Peas and it worked like a charm! One review said to pull out on the thumb crank as you began to turn the crank (this may better allign the splitter wheel…not sure if this made the difference, it’s not in the official instructions.

This is all I ever use to open cans now, no more obsessing about cleaning the lids first or shards getting into the food from cutting. Also, lid fits back on perfectly if desired, so you can use the can for leftovers and stick it in the fridge with the lid on. Magnet is a gimmick and will not work for 99% of cans, which doesn’t bother me, only can it sometimes works on is the dinky tomato paste cans ,,, About the only drawback vs conventional openers is there is about 20% more cranking involved, which again doesn’t bother me.

We have tried various safety can openers, including Oxo and Amazon Basics, after our original Good Cooks dual handle got dull. All were a disappointment. None were very successful in opening up low tuna fish cans. The PrinChef works very well if you follow their simple directions. The only flaw we could identify is that the magnet is not strong enough to always hold on to the lid after opening the can.

Its easy to use as long as you read the instructions first! Similar openers are 20$ so i was super happy that it works exactly the way i wanted it to. No sharp edges and you can put the lid right back on if necessary! I will definately recommend this to my friends!

Easy to use. Doesnβt require much strength to use. Anyone can use this, probably good for folks with arthritic hands. I recommend it!
