Thank you to the person who wrote the review encouraging the purchase of the 4-cup size. It was that review that influenced me to go with the 4-cup, and it is perfect. A mortar and pestle is such a useful kitchen tool. For example, I needed just a little powdered sugar for a dessert garnish, so I put a couple of teaspoons of organic granulated sugar in my new tool, and presto, instant fresh powdered sugar. That is just one of countless things this versatile tool will do for you. Your imagination is the limit. The product itself arrived in perfect condition, and I followed the instructions to season it prior to first use, which wasn’t a big deal, and kind of cool to see the process. Thumbs up!

The mortar is very sturdy, but I’m sure you don’t want to drop it. I’m using it to grind up paradise seeds to go in a homebrew Belgian IPA. I haven’t finished preparing the mortar yet but I’m sure it will work well.

This mortar is an add on to our smaller one. We had an abundant pepper harvest this year. The smaller mortar just didn’t get the job done. Got this one “and voila “ we can crush peppers with ease. It’s sturdy, easy to clean and looks great on the counter when in use. Perfect!

It was exactly what I’ve been wanting since my last broke 5 years ago. It’s small enough to leave on the counter.Big enough for all the jobs I’ll want it for. It looks like art,it’s so beautiful. It also was very affordable, given the times we are living in, when almost everything is double or triple the price it was just a few short years ago. I love the black granite.

Was shipped in a bag? This is heavy and the box was crushed and the items were was loose inside. Thank God its made of granite and is OK. Checked for cracks and don’t see any. Should have been in a box. Bags get tossed about. Boxes get better treatment. Obviously was not treated carefully, luckily its tough.
