I see many reviews complaining about the difficulty of pushing the 16 blades through the apple.Hereβs a tip:It works best if you turn the apple upside down!Typically the top of the apple is the widest part. Turning the apple over means 1) the blade will have less resistance when you start pushing, and 2) the apple will be more stable be because it will be sitting on a wider base!Other than that, most criticisms are valid:Iβve used mine since 2015 (7 years), and the outer plastic ring (that holds the blades) cracked in one place, but that hasnβt created any functional issues. But yes, cheap. It does take some force to get the blades in motion, but thatβs to be expected with 16 blades. As mentioned, easier if you start upside down. The flip-away base is great for getting a clean cut to finish the slicing. (And if youβre working βupside downβ it helps keep things centered, as youβre cutting through skin of the widest part of the apple.)And one other benefit- I use it to slice onions! Youβll get βribsβ of onions, where the layers of the onion break into segments – saves a lot of effort chopping!

I just purchased 2 more of these because I LOVE this gadget. The key is to take a thin slice off the bottom of the apple or pear to even it out, put the slicer on a cutting board – I use a plastic one on my kitchen table because the counter is too tall for me, then press down with the base off to the side. Once the blades are nearly to the bottom of the apple they stop, you flip the base and then finish slicing. To clean. Take an old tooth brush and quickly brush the underside of the blades under running water.

So I have picky kids who donβt like much but they love apples, did an internet search and decided to try this to make nice even slices and get rid of the core. Much to my delight, it worked wonderfully, seems pretty sturdy the only reason I gave 4 stars on easy to use is because itβs hard for me to push down without a step stool if itβs a more bf item apple because I canβt get the leverage with my 5β self. The bottom pushes the slices the rest of the way through the bottom for the most part but sometimes one or two get stuck on the bottom on the blades. Overall wonderful buy I recommend!

This works well, but Iβm not sure what the grey part is supposed to do except for storage maybe? I recommend cutting the bottom of apple off to make a flat surface. The grey bottom piece I leave out of the way. It cuts well, and makes thin slices. Made a couple of apple pies in no time.

I love apples but hate to eat them whole. I also hate to cut them- time and mess- and I don’t like them cold. Also not a fan of single use kitchen tools. Thatβs a lot of βdislikeβ to overcome just for an apple! This cutter is awesome. Super sharp, thin wedges (16) and very tight core – no waste. The bottom hinges c over pushes the apple ALL the way through and then serves to protect the cutting edges when stored.Rinses clean with no effort and by the time I sit down to my apple slice snack, theyβre at room temp!!!!I think Iβm gonna keep this tucked in the apple bag -The bottom cover and number of slices raise this above the competition – love this gadget!

This works best if I peel the apple first, or at least slice off the skin at the top and bottom. I’m pleased to report that it’s holding up well.

Although I was able to use this to make an apple pie, it was very difficult to use. Trying to press down over the apple to slice it, was almost impossible. This was on a peeled apple as well. The blades do not seem to be sharp enough to penetrate the apple easily.

Use this for apple slices for freeze drying. What took an hour now takes 5 minutes, and all slices are perfectly even. So far no issues works well and seems sturdy enough to last a while. DO NOT brush at apple bits with your finger that are stuck on when cleaning or you will get cuts.
