I bought this because it was ~$10 cheaper than the Zero Japan salt box.The RSVP salt box is a good value. There was a spot of imperfection in the glaze, small chips in the bamboo, and the hinge scrapes on the ceramic because of the threads of the screws.I replaced the supplied screws (bottom in the picture) with a 1 inch #8 wood screw with an unthreaded portion (top in the picture). The top now opens smoothly.A 3/4″ #10 wood screw with an unthreaded portion would probably be the best fit, but 1 inch #8 worked just fine without splitting the wood.

I found it so cute when I saw it online and for a couple of days when it arrived. But then I realized it looks a bit like a toilet! And now I can’t not see it… It’s still cute though!

I love the salt box but I am unhappy about the lid that doesn’t close all the way. See pictures. I may have to replace the screws as other reviewers mention. I would not consider this as giftable for this one reason.

My other salt locker is larger. This one is not tiny, but half inch bigger would have been ideal. Otherwise it’s very nice.
