I have gotten really tired of buying manual can openers only to have them stop working very well after 8 or 9 months. But, the Swing-A-Way Easy Crank Can Opener, 10.4 Inches works. Consistently. Every time. It’s a little cumbersome, though, because of the way I use it. As another reviewer said, it seems to be designed for opening large cans because the handles are long. (That’s why I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5. I wish the manufacturer would make one with shorter handles.). The crank handle, the one that you move, is long enough that it crashes into the counter every time you bring it around if you are opening medium or small cans. And, medium and small cans are the only sizes that I open. If I was using it on a large can, there would be enough clearance between this handle and the counter. To avoid this counter-crash, I just set the can to be opened up on something – like a block of wood, or I put it very close to the edge of the counter so the long handle will hang off the edge. All this means you need to hold on to the can securely so it won’t tip over. But, I find the little extra effort to do all this is much less frustrating that the can openers that die early.

This can opener was wrapped in light bubble wrap and shipped in a plastic bag. The whole package was falling apart when received. The can opener, being heavy, and apparently thrown around, came off of the original cardboard and zip ties, out of the bubble wrap, and it is a miracle that it was not broken. The can opener itself is great…very sharp and easy to use. I would give it five stars except for the shipping.

I have purchased one for myself a while back after destroying numerous can openers. This one is still going strong! I have also purchased them as gifts for others and they were well received!

No kidding you will not believe how easy this opener is to use. Great for large cans too. But it works first time and every time on every can. Little tuna cans to large cans of yams. With the long crank handle it is just plain old fun to use .. love it so much I want another one, but what the heck would I need to can openers for … this one is so well made it may be the last I ever have to buy. It is amazing and the choices for the ways to use the handle are excellent. Seriously, look no further, this is the quality of product that we rarely run into, sturdy and built to last. So nice to not say about something, ya I guess it will be ‘ok’ for as long as it lasts, but instead to say WOW that was so easy to use!

This can opener is so helpful with opening large cans, and I even use it when opening more than one smaller one because of the arthritis in my hand. It is smooth and doesnβt skip while opening, and the feature of the folding handle makes it easy to store. Place shorter cans near the edge of the counter because the handle is longer than the can, but it works great.

I like having this version with the larger handle and it seems to be more sturdy. The handle may be too long for some people because you canβt open a smaller can while they rest on the counter, see photo.

We have gone through many can openers, and this one BY FAR, is the best!
