I love being able to stick the probe into the meat and come back when I hear it go off. I’m not very good at judging ‘done’ when it comes to steaks and porks so this is a kitchen essential for me. This is the 2nd one I’ve ordered. The downside to it is that it isn’t as durable as I”d like–I got 4 years out the last one, which isn’t very long given that I don’t use it more than 2-3 times a week. You need to be careful of the probe cord–it shouldn’t be allowed to kink, or get pinched so thing about how you can store it.One other thing that could be better–this really only works on dense items, like meats. If you try to stick it in, say, a frozen casserole, once the food has thawed, the probe won’t stay in position very well. Ditto if you have a very thin piece of meat, it will flop over. I can get around this by holding the probe in the right position and closing the over door to catch the probe cord to hold it in place, but it would be nice if they would make a clip or something that would hold it on the side of dishes.Presets are handy, and you can tweak them–i.e. 145 is fish, but I like my salmon a bit drier so I select fish and then raise the temp a few degrees. Alarm is nice and loud and it stays on as long as the temp exceeds your selected setting.

UPDATE: it works great ? on the grill, in a skillet, in the oven. I eat a ton of chicken and ever piece has been perfect due to this little thermometer. It works really well. A goodcable. I was worried about that but it’s actually like a wire cable. So tonight I tried it out on top of the stove instead of in the oven and it’s working wonderfully. My only issue with it is, I’m not the best at figuring out instructions, so I’m kind of slow on learning it. I’ll get it though.

Used this for my thanksgiving turkey and it turned out excellent. When I turned it on the first time the display was going crazy and beeping, but when I turned it off and back on it cleared. A couple of times I used a different digital thermometer to compare it’s reading to this unit and the temp was within 1 degree. Recommend it. Basic and does the job. Took off one star overall because it feels cheap (lightweight and fragile)

I did not get to use this item because it arrived the day before Thanksgiving and I put it aside to have it ready. When I opened it to wash and set it up I realized the package was missing the battery that it said was included. I didnβt have 1 battery to put in this so buyers take notice you may need to have a battery on hand.

I don’t know why it took me so long to get a thermometer like this. I had the old fashioned one with glass top that required me to open the oven every time I needed to check the doneness of the food. This makes it a whole lot easier and I don’t have to open the oven until it’s ready.

Device worked great for 2 years, low to moderate use. Wish it still worked. Considering purchasing another, but feel like it should last longer than a couple years as we take good care of electronics etc. Possibly just the probe piece that is broke, it all of a sudden started reading much higher when using in the oven and door shut. Then opened the door and worked read what seemed to be the correct temp, so thought it was something with the oven door pressing on it. Hasn’t worked right since and seeming to bounce around a lot and reads 100+ when sitting in room temp. Maybe these things are only designed to last a couple years.

I got this thermometer in order to check the temperature of my oven. Some reviews said it could be used in that manner. Yes, it technically can be used to measure temperature of the oven. But it isn’t easy to make the probe stay where you want it to stay in the oven.

Worked well for about a year, then the probe started giving strange readings. I emailed support and had a new probe shipped to me the next day. Honestly would recommend everyone purchase from Thermapro because of this, since you can trust that they will stand by their products if issues arise. Other than the excellent customer service the probe works great and allows you to constantly monitor the temp of things in the oven 5/5.
