I make pickles using a pasteurization process in which you have to keep the water in the kettle between 180 and 185 degrees for 30 minutes. It is crucial to keep it in that temperature range. Too hot and the pickles are mushy. Not hot enough and they are not shelf safe. I use two probes when pasteurizing, and my old “stick” probe was too short so it sat too close to the water surface and would fog up where you could not read it. This unit is great with the extra long metal probe and the handy clip that attaches to the kettle. It has made pickle making a lot easier. I tested the temperature read out against my other two thermometers and it is pretty much spot on. W

Works as stated. One feature I would like is if it beeped or made an auditory sound when it got to temperature along with the flashing light.

I’ve been making hands and candies all my life, using a regular candy thermometer. If you’re in the fence buying this, don’t be! This is sooooo much easier to read, and way more accurate than trying to read a regular thermometer!

Iβve only used it a few times but am very happy with this candy thermometer. I like that the clip angles the probe away from the edge of the pan for a more accurate reading. I also like that you can set a temp alert.

This thermometer is very handy. I love the digital reading, the temp alert feature and the light up screen. Glad I bought it.

This thing is so much better than my old glass bulb thermometer. I like that the digital numbers are easy to read and the head tilts so that it is still legible when the metal prong is leaning inside a pan of pre-caramel. The clip holds it steady in the pan, keeping it to the side so that I can effectively stir the concoction. The temperature reading is very accurate. The same holds true for cooking meat, as the prong slides in easily and ensures perfect cooking temperatures with a nice DING! when the programmed target temp is reached.

Easy to use, very readable and long.

Not complicated at all, Thanksgiving turkey was moist and not overcooked. The temperature probe was long enough even for a big roast and twenty pound turke.
