I ordered this as a gift for my parents, whose old pen thermometer finally went to the giant appliance graveyard in the sky, and they use it constantly. Both of my parents really like the design and the large temperature reading. I own a different ThermoPro, and if I ever need another one or another gift, I will get this model.

As an avid BBQ cook, i need a good, accurate quick read thermometer. Also, I need one I can read in the dark for long cooks that I start late at night or early morning when it’s still dark. I’ve heard about the brand for a while now so figured I’d give it a try. Very happy with this and look forward to using for future cooks!!

The folding probe is also the on/off control. Great for quick temp check like water temp when proofing yeast, shortening temp when frying…anytime you are not in need of a leave-in-place temp probe.

I like the way this one is made. The only feature that needs improvement is the magnet. The magnet is not strong enough to hold the tool in place. This is the only reason I am returning it.

I had a different ThermoPen pro pretty much identical to this one, but sadly after just 2 or 3 years of use it died. When opening the probe it would just display dashes on the screen and wouldn’t do anything beyond that. Unfortunately, it was well past the 1 year warranty mark.With that being said, I loved the thermometer when it worked and figured I would give it a shot again so I ordered this one. I immediately noticed with this new one that the probe swings out quite a bit easier than my last one, which seems promising to me. Otherwise, they are identical in nature and usage.I gave this 4 stars, being that my last one only lasted 2 or 3 years and these only come with a 1 year warranty. Hopefully this one stands the test of time a little better.
