Bought this after reading multiple reviews from various websites as a good balance of price and function. The appearance of this is quite nice, however, I was very surprised to find that its functionality was less than desired. I spent quite a bit of time trying to adjust the grain to fine and either – it was so fine that I couldn’t see it (in which case it works too well), or it was clogging quickly and no grains were coming out. The large grain setting seemed to work fine. Also, I cook quite a bit so this might have been a little too small because it felt like I had to refill it every week to get enough “weight” to get the pepper down in the mill to be ground. Before this I was using a grocery store single use grinder and it felt more comfortable and to some extent actually preferred to this mill. However, I will try to get another pepper mill so there is less plastic weight. And why do I need another mill? Because with 3 weeks of buying this the tiny screw top fell out of my hand and has rolled under some appliance in my kitchen. Of course, obviously user error but do keep that in mind if you buy any grinder I suppose.

I like everything about the grinder itself; it does a wonderful job of retaining the grinding setting I prefer (via the top knurled knob), and grinds smoothly and consistently. No complaints whatsoever. What I didn’t care for was the careless way in which it was packaged. It shipped in a padded flexible envelope with other small items. Only a thin, *unsealed* plastic bag originally enclosed it. When it arrived it was partially out of the bag and one of the smaller items had made small dents in the top and side of the grinder. At the very least it should ship completely surrounded by bubble wrap that has been secured to prevent damage in shipping. Otherwise, it’s the product I was looking for: something that works well and looks as if it will last a while.

Kind of expensive for what it is but it has a smooth, pleasant grinding motion. The way to fill it with peppercorns is to unscrew the top silver thing and lift up. You’ll see an empty space where you can dump the peppercorns into. Took off a star because there is a logo in white on the outside, near the bottom, called “Trudeau”. Is that the name of the company that makes this? Strange. I just turn the grinder so I don’t see it.

I have been struggling with overpriced pepper mills that don’t work or work poorly, resisting getting another, expecting the same. I’d finally had it and got this economical one. It is great. It works as it should and it is an Amazon’s Choice for a reason (not always the case but it is this time). Great pepper mill. Only issue is someone put a barcode label on it that is hard to get off, but with care it can be done without damaging the finish.

If a sharp eye is kept on them, the Chinese can manufacture good product. Trudeau was fussy enough to do that, evidently. The grinder can be adjusted to grind fairly fine. It is not ostentatious, but is very usable – feels good in the hands. If you need ostentation, then get the Peugeot.

Has what counts. Nothing unnecessary.Metal burrs for this price is unheard of. Container holds a good amount of peppercorns.Wood material could be finished better. Insides are rough and bare. No support for the central bar on top to keep it stable but I guess the cap helps but loading can be weird since it moves a bit.Overall, it is very good for the price

I bought this after reading a wc review. It is nice quality. I find that it is easy to fill and feels nice in the hand. My only negative is that I have to fill it rather frequently due to the smaller size.

This is a great pepper mill. if you don’t want to throw down $40 on the undeniable best pepper mill, you get this one.mine has broken and needed to be replaced every ~3 years, but i also consume about half a pound of black pepper per month so your mileage may vary.
