At first use, the top of the rubber stopper popped off during storage, for no apparent reason. Luckily, the bottle stood upright or it would have been a fun cleanup. The stopper nearly fell out of the bottle. I ascribed it to the missing top part. So, I replaced the stopper, pumped till it clicked (twice, again…), and even though it stayed in one piece this time, the stopper came out far too easily the next evening, suggesting zero vacuum. I had previously used another brand that really did the job for many years, (till the pump was lost during a move). So, I doubt it’s a matter of unrealistic expectations. This bottle of wine is a sacrificial one, tasting like any other 2-3d/o red. It just didn’t work.Update – 2 bottles later… This works just fine! The top of the other three stoppers never came off, and the vacuum was maintained overnight. The previous vacuum issue in my case must have been due to a change in elevation and temperature. Something to keep in mind.

This device is terrific and works really well. Besides keeping your wine fresh it also works well for bottled vinegar. I always found that my vinegar would start to taste off by the time the bottle was down to the last third.But with the use of this handy device I can now enjoy the entire bottle right down to the last drop. I highly recommend it.

This is very easy to use and requires significantly less strength than it takes to remove the cork from a wine bottle. You just stick the stopper in and then use the little hand pump to remove the air. The seal is tight enough that you can lay the bottle back in the wine rack without spilling. It does a great job of keeping the wine from turning for quite some time.
