I’m so glad I didn’t pay attention to the reviews. It does take a bit of practice to understand how to use the cookie press but once you learn it’s so easy. I didn’t use the recipe that comes with the cookie press, instead I used the one from Sally’s Baking Addiction because I was already baking when I saw the little recipe book that comes with it. Cleaning it’s easy because you can remove all the parts. I ordered it late September and today is November 30th, all I can say is that it’s very easy to bake perfectly shaped and buttery cookies and I have used it many times. The picture I included is of my first time using the cookie press, after the third cookie you get how to use it.

This was my first time using a cookie press and it was not easy to use. The easiest part was squeezing the handle to get the right amount of dough out. That being said, getting the cookie to stick to the cookie sheet was hit or miss, and I tried with several discs. 75% of the time, I would have to tap the top of the plunger or bang the press into the cookie sheet to get the cookie dough out. Maybe it was my cookie sheet that was the problem. The most frustrating experience for me was that the discs don’t fit snuggly to the bottom of the press. I tried for several minutes to see if I was doing something wrong, but finally I just had to get it close to fitting and screw the tube on with the disc facing down so it wouldn’t move. The good news is that the cookies turned out great using the basic recipe on the pamphlet. The dough consistency made it super easy! Maybe folks that had trouble getting the dough through needed to beat the butter and sugar to a fluffier consistency, which was mentioned in the instructions. The packaging design would make it giftable, but make sure you provide a gift receipt, because the beginning was stressful!

The kids using it loved it! With help, easy for 9 year olds on up to use. I pre made the cookie dough for them.I think young cooks would love this gift, then thereβs the cookie reward in the end!

Although, the device works great, the barrel seems to be too small for it runs out the dough too quickly!

I just received and returned it without using. The discs that shape the cookie dough have tabs on each side to orient them in the base cap of the press. The discs will not fully seat in the base cap. The notches in the base cap are not wide enough for the tabs and/or the hole for the discs to snap into is too small. This will allow dough to escape around the outside of the discs and make a mess. After receiving it and inspecting, I saw other reviewers had the same issue. Overall, it looks like it would work well if I fixed the base cap with a Dremel tool, but why should I have to fix a brand-new item?

It’s easy to use and clean because it comes apart and operates well

The top piece with the trigger and plunger is very difficult to assemble once the dough is in the chamber. The spirals of the screw on top are not well made and it takes several tries to get the trigger and plunger lined up so it will screw on properly. The lower end is not as bad however the top and bottom of the chamber are not marked and the pieces only fit one way. I finally marked the top of the chamber with a sharpie because the plunger and trigger only fit in one end while the end with the template easily screws into either end. So frustrating! Once the cookie press is loaded, you have to squeeze the trigger twice to get enough dough out for one cookie. I made three batches of dough and tried different recipes but still had to use the trigger twice for each cookie. This made very fat cookies, some of which lost their shape and became blobs.
